ADSETT 12-BORE (CONVERTED) SIDELEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 2050, circa 1870, 27 1/8in. black powder only bold damascus barrels, rib engraved 'ADSETT. CANTERBURY', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl in both, heavily pitted, wall thicknesses at 17 and 19, converted from muzzle-loading, carved percussion fences, rebounding sidelocks with stepped tails and dolphin hammers, the action flats marked 'J. ADSETT CANTERBURY' and 'CONVERTED', acanthus scroll engraving surrounding game scene vignettes of hound and fowl, the bowed triggerguard with a lion and hound, 14 1/4in. birdseye walnut stock cracked at hand and with a comb insert, including 1/4in. wooden extension and with steel buttplate (tang springing), fore-end wood with crack, weight 6lb. 13oz.
